A beautiful Mollukah celebration commenced again this year! The food was delicious as always (I love me a pitch-in!), the fellowship delightful. It was not too hot and sticky, and the cake was scrumptious! (Nana does it best!)IMG_6960 IMG_6962 IMG_6964 IMG_6965
IMG_6969 IMG_6971 IMG_6977The most special part of the evening came when Joanie and Sonny shared a song they’d written in honor of Mollukah. I was so honored and surprised. The song was beautiful and thoughtful and made me cry! Here are the lyrics:

There’s a day in every August when good friends gather round

Comin to your country place, traveling a bit from town

Just to see you, yes to see you walk a little in your light

Just to hug you, yes to hug you, feel your arms around us tight

Oh your hands they touch the fabric of ho so many hearts

How they shape the lovely words, and family from the start

Your heart’s wide open, yes wide open, your spirit just shines through

It’s the reason, yes the reason, we love you like we do

What you give the world oh darlin, something so rich so rare

Earthly goodness, built on kindness, always willing to share

Thank you Molly, thank you Molly, celebrate in style

Have a happy birthday, Molly, lead us with your smile

Molllukah, oh it’s a high time in this family and friends

Thankful for the gift of time, time we get to spend

Sharing food, music, and laughter, in ways of long ago

Keep us grounded, keep us grateful keep us coming back for more
